It's Recovery Month

September is National Recovery Month and 2009 marks its 20th anniversary! We are excited to be involved in such an important cause that benefits so many. Millions of Americans every year need treatment and support for substance abuse, alcoholism and other addictions, not to mention the effect it has on the countless families, friends and colleagues who are often confused on how to help a loved one with this disease.

The good news is: people are seeking solutions and effective ways to get help. On that note, we extend an invitation to you, your family and friends to join us for the 5th Annual Art of Recovery Expo, September 19th at the Phoenix Convention Center, Hall G. FREE admission.

Expo Highlights:

Keynote Speaker, Christopher Kennedy Lawford. He was with us when we started this venture in 2005. Lawford will speak at 1:00 p.m. from the main stage and will be available for book signing. He is the author of Symptoms of Withdrawal, Moments of Clarity and Healing Hepatitis C.

What Every Parent Should Know About Prescription Medication—A personal journey with Valley mom, Cindy Sierzchula who lost her daughter Courtney to a drug overdose. Today she is an advocate for awareness spreading the message to other parents and their kids. On stage at 11:30 a.m.

For anyone who may be at risk, The Arizona Department of Health is offering limited free Hepatitis A and B vaccinations with TWINRIX ^(TM). 10:45 a.m.
A panel discussion on Understanding the Myths and Truth of Interventions with Dr. Janice Blair, Paul Hamblin and Dr. Michael Carlton will follow the keynote address.
The Premier of Hearts and Minds video 12:15-12:45 p.m. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) developed the Hearts & Minds program as a wellness education initiative to promote the importance of integrating mental and physical health to maximize quality of life and recovery for people living with mental illness.
Professionals are encouraged to register for Love Addiction, Love Avoidance lecture with Victoria Muñoz, MA, LPC, based on Pia Mellody’s groundbreaking work on the compulsive behaviors of love addicts and love avoidants. Continuing Education Credits are available, register:
